The award was presented June 10 at the European Hematology meeting in Copenhagen and is the largest hematology award in Europe. At the meeting Eva also held the lecture Targeting the anemia of myelodyplastic syndromes.
The jury's motivation:
“The European Hematology Association has the honour of presenting the José Carreras – EHA Award 2016 to Eva Hellström Lindberg. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to translational and clinical research into the pathogenesis and treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).”

Priset delades ut den 10 juni på europeiska hematologimötet i Köpenhamn och är den största årliga hematologiska utmärkelsen i Europa. I samband med utmärkelsen höll Eva också föreläsningen Targeting the anemia of myelodyplastic syndromes.
